Mission Statement:

The goal of this web-log is to accurately and reliably plot major developments in operations, technology or policy around the world. The decisions made by nation states or alliance structures regarding these issues are key to understanding their short or long term strategic interests. The method for arriving at these strategic conclusions will be the development of logical, well formed arguments supported by cited evidence and information.

By consulting all available open-source or aggregate material it is the intent of ‘The First Order’ to provide informative, well sourced analysis of pertinent developments in military policy, warfighting and geostrategic interests. As a primarily Canadian site, many of the issues discussed here will be related to Canadian national strategic interests or those interests of its close allies, trading partners or potential international rivals.
